« on: Sunday 14 April 13 22:49 BST (UK) »
Hi
Where do I find the parish records for the Isle of Man.
Wanting an image of a birth which took place in 1808.  No image available on line.
The link from the National Archives takes me to a page that is no longer in use.

Who do I contact?
Thank you for any help. ??? ???

there are currently no images online - the mormons filmed the 1911 official copy (which is the one from which 'birth' certificates are taken for those pre civil registration in the 1870's) and this is borrowable at any mormon (LDS) family history centre; the original parish registers have been digititised and are expected to go online via the iMuseum (www.iMuseum.im) - you might like to try contacted them (part of Government Manx National Heritage) as to their plans - from my own experience the official copy is 99.99% accurate and is excellent (it includes any additional notes tho by 1808 these are usually minimal at best) - the igi extracted records for the Island are an generally an excellent transciption of this official copy but without the additional sidenotes tho they apply English rules re naming of illegitimate children which did not hold on IoM - however only the Mormons could turn a silk purse of an acccurate transcription into the pigs ear of the online IGI by substituting and adding 'patron submissions' which at best were misreading and often pure invention

So do you think that if the maiden name of the mother had been recorded it would be on the Family Search site.

should be - why not give just that little bit more info and tell us what name you are after and what parish - I've done a little work on Parish regs around this period

Hi Frances
Thank you for the link to the imuseum.  I have just found a two deaths and a marriage, but not the birth which listed is on Family Search.
Will send an email to the museum and see if they can help.

Thank you again Red3
