Tymon/Higgi(n)son marriage Carrick on Shannon 1869
« on: Tuesday 16 April 13 23:29 BST (UK) »
Hello
I am looking for a notation on a marriage cert. that tells me the parents of the wedded couple!
The couple were Jane Tymon m John R. Higgi(n)son in Carrick on Shannon 1869.

I have the index that tells me this but I am looking to see if anyone has access to the actual document . Desperate to find the parents of these two!  Thanks !

a civil marriage record will include details of the father's of the bride and groom, but not the mothers. You can use the index references to order the cert from the GRO to view the details. see :

   Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon
Details included on a Marriage Cert
Remember to check the Resource boards :  Ireland, Dublin, Antrim & Cork (and stickies at the top of other county sub-forums)

You might try contacting Ticker, who is a long time member, as he is researching Tymon and variants.

The civil marraige record for
Jane TYMON and John R HIGGISON is Carrick-on-Shannon V3 P71
The actual certificate would provide their father's names and the name of the church
Their mother's names could be in the church record

This marriage's church record is online in a paid site Rootsireland.com in Co. Roscommon
This will be just a transcription of the church record and will not necessarily include both parents names
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

Tumna CofI Church is near Battle Bridge and to the north of Carrick on Shannon.

see : Tumna CofI Church (c1890 OSI map)

The registration district of Carrick-on-Shannon covers parts of Counties Leitrim and Co. Roscommon, where Tumna civil parish is located.

The marriage is on familysearch.org
Jane's surname is incorrectly transcribed as LYMON
The area also as Loomna

Her father was Patrick and John's father was Francis

well spotted ...

I think the transcriber may have had difficulty with the Ts on the record -  and read them a Ls. i.e. Tymon / Lymon, Toomna / Loomna

the cert would give a few additional details - occupations, residences, names of witnesses..
