Hello Pauline

According to the Book,John & Anne had 8 Sons & 8 Daughters.

I have read John`s Will & it would seem some of the Children had died when he made his will.

I am still looking in the Pembs book for clues but there are a lot of Bowens in there,so may take some time.

Kind regards

Thank you for that Janeology.  As this record calls John Bowen a Gent of Trelech I wonder whether it's our chap, as ours was a clerk of Tre-lech a'r Bettws. However,  it's the nearest thing I've seen to what could be him. 😊

Look up request might be the next step ...
I am wondering whether the only way to pin his ancestry down is to see his ordination records at the National archives in Wales. Neither he nor his two sons who became clerks went to Cambridge nor to any of the Oxford colleges whose alumni are published (there are many colleges who's records aren't published!!).

I've just come across this forum and I've undertaken some considerable research on the Rev John Bowen who born in Dugoed 1693 and buried in St Teilo Church 1753. I've documented most of his life including family but have failed to identify his parents so it would be great to make contact with you in order to see what connections can be made ?

Lookforward to hearing from you

Hi there.

Great to hear from someone with the same challenge as me!!

I've not managed to get any further with John's ancestors! I do wonder whether the preist/vicar ordination records are the path to finding them, so a look-up request is probably the next step.

I do have loads of info on his descendants if you want to compare notes.

I'm curious to know where you got his date and place of birth from. Family trip to Wales did find his gravestone, but too much of it was worn away to get good details  :(

Looking forward to your response.
