Are you sure Mary Ellen was born in Dublin ?

There's an 1906 birth of a Mary Ellen Farnan on the BMD Index listed in Rathdrum ... Co. Wicklow

Best way to start the search might be with a cert for her, to confirm mother's maiden name

they certainly moved around - this looks like the family in Co. Clare in 1911, Denis and Ellen born Co. Kilkenny, Mary Ellen listed as born Dublin. Married 15 years, 3 children born, just the Mary Ellen still alive.

So marriage could possibly be Co. Kilkenny, Dublin or anywhere in between...

think I was looking at the wrong Mary Ellen birth - this one in 1905 might fit better :

  Name : Mary Ellen Farnan
  Event Type : Birth
  Quarter and Year : Apr-Jun 1905
  Registration District : Dublin North
  Volume : 2 / Page : 551

the best fit for the marriage on the BMD Index I'm seeing is one in 1898 in Castlecomer district, which is the correct one for Ballyragget ... unfortunately at least two Ellens on the same page...

  Name: Denis Farnan
  Event Type : Marriage
  Quarter and Year : Oct-Dec 1898
  Registration District : Castlecomer
  Volume :  3 / Page  : 313

Ellen White, Ellen Phelan both have the same references as Denis..

looking for some help with a.
NICHOLAS FARNAN born circa 1809-died 1888. Ballyraggert Kilkenny, married to a
MARGARET ? 1818-died 1881..dont know Margarets maiden name..the marriages all took place in the Knockroe/Castelcomer area of Kilkenny, the family seems to have lived all their lives in Ballyraggert..though some later emigrated to U.S mid to late 1800s.

I believe Nicholas had a least 2 brother and 1 sister,
 JOHN born circa 1806
 Bridget 1804 -1884
 Thomas ??

Id be interested in NICHOLAS'S marriage details if possible, I believe I have his children's details/records.
any other details regards Nicholas or Thomas would be appreciated .
the search hasn't been made easy as there were several children named after grandfathers fathers
and uncles down through the generations, all thrown in with 2nd marriages.
