It is possible that a letter to that address may produce a friendly owner who will take a photo of the houses for you and email it  to you.

you have absolutely nothing to lose by doing this.

I will pm you the full address

Hi,
I have stumbled across this site as I have just started to research the history of my house. I live at 2, The Old Shop, Much Birch. I purchased it at the end of June 2010 for £178,000. I have read your posts, did your Grandfather really live in my house? I find this amazing if he did?!

I can send you some photos if you like?

Would love to know what history you have about the house and the people who lived here.

Look forward to your reply.

Hi again,
I can't tell you too much about the history of the house, but definitely yes William Haynes (Haines) was living with his wife Mary at the Old Shop, Much Birch in 1841 census.   William was my GGG Grandfather and he was a Cooper by trade.   It appears by 1851 census he had moved to Hereford Road, and 1861 census he was living with his son-in-law William Cooper at The School House, Much Birch.     So our William presumably was not the owner of the property,  certainly his Mother's family owned quite an amount of property (the Verry family) and they had lived in Much Birch area since 1541.   When she died in 1807, Eleanor left property called "The Patch", called the New Patch, to him, so where or what that is, I am not sure.  Guess need to do more research.
I would love to see some photos.  jan

Hi JanJim,
PM would be good. Its nice to know your GGG Grandfather lived here in 1841, I am already starting to build up a picture of how old the house actually is.
I would love to send some pics, front and back, don't mind sending some inside ones to, if you like?

Thanks Mike, for the welcome, new to the site so will learn as I go!

I will p.m. you after you reply to this posting.    I am guessing that the Old Shop is down in the centre of the village, off the A49, have been trying to get an idea of the position of this house in relation to the whole area.  We actually stayed at Harewood End Hotel, and just wish now that we knew more about the family, as it appears that the School House where our William Haynes lived in latter years, is now a B & B, but I think it is along the A49, would that be right.

From what I have been able to find out too is that the Verry family owned Hill Farm, wondering if this property still exists.

Would love any photos that you can provide, of the actual vicinity of the Old Shop.
