I went on freebmd 1880 - 1923 and looked for births for
WILSON Herbert in Cheshire - only one was registered - Wirral ....1891 ...so , if you know that Herbert Wilson was born on The Wirral ...?
www.cheshirebmd.org.uk
1891
Wilson Herbert      Eastham    Cheshire West  EAS/37/38

Eastham and Bebington are very close ...does anyone know if a Spital birth would be registered in Eastham in 1891 ??
Could Herbert Wilson have been a casualty of WW1 ?....I will have a look

This Herbert Wilson looks to be the son of William (a labourer) & Ellen Wilson and was born 4th March 1891 at Ellesmere Port. Familysearch.org has the baptism. The family are in Leicester in 1911

Andy. I think the Wilson (blacksmith) at Smithy Cottage in Kellys directory will be my family.
Does it give the head of households christian name?
Also, Herbert could possibly be his middle name, for instance there is a George Herbert Wilson (age 12) living at Thompson Street, Tranmere in 1911 with father George Henry. He could have been popularly known as Herbert to avoid confusion with his father.
There are many other possibilities because he may well not have been born in Cheshire.

Hi

As I said in my earlier post the 1914 Kellys Directory for Cheshire has John Wilson, a blacksmith, Spital. he is in the Poulton-cum-Spital Commercial listing. There is no other information
