Cardross Park childrens home was where I was abandoned for a few years in the early 1970's. I remember a big sandstone building with a long driveway? Is that right? What is the building now? I'd like to take a look. Any pics of it anyone?

If you ever by chance visit Helensburgh there is a book in the Library with lot's of photo's of some of the staff at Cardross Park Home

Thank you Rosie , if I'm in Helensburgh I will certainly go to the library & look for this book 😃

Yes it is a sad story , Myself & the other 2 youngest weren't at Cardross park home for long , we were Fostered by a family in Inverness in 1963 , my real mother remained in hospital care  until she died in 1995 ( she had psychiatric problems )& went to Bellsdyke hospital Larbert . I went to visit her around 1991 & visited her a few times after that  also met up with my 3 older brothers in the early 80s . Sadly as we were separated at such a young age we were like 2 different family's .

Yes I visited Cardross park mansion a few years ago . The whole surrounding area is totally transformed with new housing . I'd visited Cardross park home several years, before when it was deserted & with fields of overgrown grass

Unfortunately Cardross Park Home was demolished some years ago.I would be grateful for any pictures or any other information about the children's home as my husband was there from 1959 until 1964 .
