To be honest, I think the Shackletons all changed their name to Herman!
Or at least, Victor did.

Need to find them in 1911 to prove my theory, though. ;D

It's too much of a coincidence that Victor Shackleton's father is John, and a Furniture Dealer!?

The FreeBMD index lists Victor S Shackleton born 1885 in the Leeds Registration District with the middle name as Stephen as below.

Births - Sep qtr  1885
Victor Stephen  Shackleton         Leeds Reg District    Vol 9b Page 455

A tree on Anc--try also lists a Victor Stephen Shackleton born Leeds in 1885 as marrying Annie Elizabeth Emsley in Leeds in 1907 with a child Frank born 1907 and in later census she is not with her husband.

Just a  thought that their split might be the reason for the name change???

Not convinced as John Herman is the father on the marriage certificate  and he was

furniture broker and there are other upholsterers connectors with Victor Herman

And Victor Herman was definately in the circus at"25/26 years old
In Redcar
1911 census

Still following the Shackleton idea -

John Shackleton left a Will when he dies in 1894 (widow ALICE then remarried to Charles Davy as per 1901)

Entry in Probate index:

John Shackleton of York Street Leeds furniture dealer died 2 March 1894 Probate Wakefield 16 april to Alice Mary, widow  effects £205 1s 6d

Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

(Fair No of immigrants in Leeds @ 1850's)
