Hampshire Connections with Coventry?

Does anyone know if there was historically any connection with the East Meon/Kingsclere/Tadley area and Coventry?  My ancestors were fellmongers in Coventry from the late 18th century but I have a hunch they originally came from Hampshire and Berkshire as this is where all the earlier Anglisses are located.  I wondered if there was a business reason for the move to Coventry (if this is the case obviously) perhaps to do with trade in wool, cattle etc.  Clutching at straws here really.
