What did (Mary) Ellen Boswell do at Berth, Llanfairfechan in 1904?
« on: Sunday 02 June 13 16:27 BST (UK) »
I have a copy of a letter written by a lady in 1904 to the couple she gave her baby to.  The address she was living at at the time was Beth, Llanfairfechan, and in the letter she mentions that the Yeomanry was camping nearby at the time (this would have been about June 1904).  I believe she was in domestic service, as she refers to her "mistress".

Could anyone please help to pinpoint where she may have been living.

Thank you.

Hi Roger,
Thanks for the really useful information about the property, I think it could be the one!  However, Margaret isn't the one!  ;) I am looking for a Mary Ellen Boswell.  I've looked at the 1911 Census aswell but she doesn't feature.

Firstly, I would like to move this thread to the relevant County board, as I'm hoping that residents of Llanfairfechan may have info on who lived at BERTH in 1904, if the Yeomanry often camped there, and is it likely that Mary Ellen was in domestic service at this house at that time?

Secondly, I would like to link this topic to one I have on the Cheshire board, which has the letter and the few details I have of Mary Ellen Boswell, plus all the replies I got at the time trying to identify her.

Thank you.

Terri - you're most welcome. Let's hope somebody will be able to help you with some local knowledge of Llanfairfechan.

Incidentally, I went camping as a teenager to Dwygyfylchi which is a few miles east of Llanfairfechan :) Had a brilliant time.
