Would there be anyone who could assist me please? I am seeking the birth of Michael Cotter born 1812, father James. He may have been born in Coolnakilla for he stole a sheep from a William Hennessey in 1812, found guilty and transported to New South Wales for seven years. Michael is my g,g,grandfather.
Perhaps there are some Parish records in the Catholic Church in Rathcormac. Are these possible to research or are they only available from the Mallow Heritage Centre.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Coolnakilla townland is in Rathcormac civil parish. If your Cotters were RC then the parish for the area is also Rathcormac, which also covered the civil parish of Gortroe. Baptism records for this parish go back to 1792, marriages to 1829. The NLI film reference is Pos. 4995. There doesn't seem to be a FamilySearch/LDS film available for this parish.

Transcripts appear to be available on RootsIreland pay-website.

A search of their index shows quite a few Cotter baptisms in North East Cork around that time, including about 3 'M. Cotters' to father with initial J.  between 1808-1816 in Rathcormac RC parish. Just one appears to matching as Michael, in 1809, but expanding the search by adding more details of fathers first-name seems to show a match to John rather than James.

I sent those headstone photos to you on June 15th 2013,  when I didn't hear from you I asked if you had received them and I then resent the photos to your email in February 2014.   

Unfortunately I have since cleared those emails and do not have copies of the photos now.
