The Leonard George Forsythe (who died at 'Greens Hotel' Hastings) probate record I gave is probably the brother of Francis, found this

JAMES BORLAND of Greens Hotel Hastings retired commercial traveller died 26 July 1893. Probate London 16 August to Francis James Borland, tutor.
£4031 19s.

Re Green's Hotel there's this entry in Kelly's Directory of Kent, Surrey & Sussex for 1891:

James Forsythe is at Green's Hotel in 1891 with daughter Annie, a couple of boarders and several servants.

RG12/763/49/17.  Indexed on Anc...y as Farythe

Sydney Forsythe married Frances (Fanny) Hamilton in Hastings in 1895. The had a son Gery Hamilton Forsythe the following year,

A Sydney Forsyth of Green's Hotel, Hastings was cited as one of 3 co-respondents in the initial divorce petition of Deussen v Deussen, 1895-6

After going back through my interview notes there was mention of Francics looking for gold in the Yukon ( Canada  ??? ) then on to Sth Africa.

Dose this seem more plausible? I'm at the end of my experience trying to find him leaving England and hoping someone here may have a bright idea to help my search.

Well the Yukon gold strike commenced in 1897 so that fits the chronology. Rough living :(
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
