Subject to your ancestor being an original member of the 5th Pals his platoon photograph should be included in the Manchester Book of Honour, copies of which are available to view at both Ashton under Lyne and Manchester Central Library. On the facing page to the photo will be a list of all those included in the picture.

I forgot to mention if you can identify your man from the platoon photo could you please let the Manchesters forum know as they have a project running to put names to faces of the approximately 11,000 men who formed the Pals.
