Tample & Parish Church Charlestown graveyard search
« on: Monday 17 June 13 20:03 BST (UK) »
Hello everyone - I am trying to find the 'resting place' of my great grandparents Pat & Norah Gallagher (6 Puntabeg Charlestown - 1911 census) - on behalf of my 89yr old mother. Does anyone know of someone who may have an interest in keeping a record of who is buried in the Tample and Parish Church (?St James') of Charlestown - I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me with this search.
Many thanks
Barbara Nolan

Hi. all records for Tample graveyard were burnt in house fire in 1940/50. Not quite sure of date.

Hi Helen - yes - just been told the house fire was in 1949 so if my ancestors died before then (I am still trying to find this out!) then their burial records will have been destroyed  :(

Hello everyone - am a little nearer my search - have been advised that each graveyard has a caretaker and they hold records of burials/burial plots so it is a case of finding the caretaker for the graveyard you want to 'search' - have found that my great grandparents from Kilbeagh will/should be in Tample/Temple and have the name of the caretaker - all courtesy of the Environment Dept co Mayo Council office. Hope this helps anyone. The local Church do not hold these type of records (in my case anyway.
Regards
Barbara
