1st marriage puzzler
« on: Monday 24 June 13 08:21 BST (UK) »
Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I'm researching Evans in ruthin/st. asaph and have a Robert evans marrying edith alice Roberts (nee blythin) in 1931 and living in st. asaph but this is his second marriage.

On his marriage certificate it says he is a widow so we know his first wife died but we don't know anything about her.....we have a certificate of marriage between a Robert henry evans and Beatrice Pritchard but this is wrong, we have also got a marriage to a keziah ann price, but this, we believe is also wrong.....

I have done a bit more digging and found a Robert evans marrying an Elizabeth Salisbury in Ruthin in 1916 but as I don't have the certificate, I can't confirm or rule-out this marriage. If anyone has this marriage or can do a marriage look-up for me, please feel free as I am puzzled, annoyed, brick-walled....please....any help would be greatfully accepted as myself and my cousin are going out of our minds..... ???

Hi

I've just checked on the North Wales BMD and the 1916 marriage was a civil marriage (non- C of E/registry office)  so there is no way of checking this up other than getting the certificate.

Maybe an outside possibility of a newspaper report.

added - did he serve in WW1?
