Anne Langford and John Sully

I am researching the above, I have Anne born 25/08/1708 from High Littleton, daughter of Robert Langford and Martha ?  I have found a marriage in 1719 between Anne Langford and John Sully (born 1670) the Anne I have would be 11 years old?  I have found a possible second wife for him, Cicely born 1667, but can find no info on her at all. John Sully had a son James Sully born 1692 who married Mary Hill in Luxborough in 1717.  I would be grateful for any info on these people please.

Hi

I was working on Thomas Orchard and Mary Sully.  Mary Sully's parents were James Sully and Mary Hill, James's father was John Sully, I searched through all Somerset weddings and found the one with Anne Langford to John Sully, all the family trees on Ancestry have her as his wife but she is too young.

Would be grateful for any help.

Most likely they made a mistake in transcription and her birth year was different of course making her older. ..

I found a lot of Sully's none may be what your're seeking but they may be relatives anyway I'm sending it. Good to hold onto for future reference.

Still looking will let you know if I find anything else.

I search for marriages Robert &  Martha but  no Martha, only Mary/Margery/Margaret. Then 2 weddings in Fleet London, but no wife mentioned just Robert.


I did see several Anne's born 1706 1708 etc  maybe? can it be true?  so young? 

Sorry that's all I could find.

The trees on Ancestry are very confused and cannot be trusted. Most have Ann b1708 as the mother of James Sully b 1692 !  The marriage between John Sully and Ann Langford is said to have been at Lydeard St Lawrence but does not appear in the online transcriptions from that parish.

The 1708 date is when Anne Langford was baptized, not when born. However her parents also baptized children at High Littleton in 1706 and 1712, so it is unlikely that Anne was born before 1707 and so, as you have realised, very unlikely that she married in 1719. (The minimum legal age for women to marry was 12 so it is just possible.)

Have you got reliable references for any of the dates and people you mention? (The only event I can see in an online register transcription is the marriage of James Sully to Mary Hill.)

PS.  Ah, the Sully/Langford wedding was at Taunton St Mary Magdalene. She was from Lydeard Lawrence.  Extremely unlikely that she was the Anne Langford from High Littleton. Nothing there to show he was the John Sully from Luxborough.
