Hi,

There is a newspaper article in The Hampshire Advertiser (Southampton, England), Saturday, September 16, 1882 regarding the theft of 35 gold rings by two gypsy women name Panella and Priscilla James, mother and daughter.

Quote - 'the elder prisoner had lost a husband and the younger a father in consequence of a quarrel that arose between him and his son out of this matter'

Priscilla James lodged with a Mary Carbin, Newtown, near Poole. She received three month hard labour and Panella received 14 days.

So the above shows that there was a daughter called Priscilla but not much else  ???

You have the actual date of death so presumably a death certificate, does that not give any clues e.g person registering the death?

Other info (unless you already know  :) ) -

A newpaper article covering the death of Thomas James gives the name -
William James 28 years old (son who killed his father) Sampson James (son of deceased)

On the inquest report it gives Thomas' wife as Pemela  ??? At the time of the incident they were living on land owned by Mr Danville, Eastmeon.

Thomas James is buried at Petersfield Cemetery.

It says (I think!):

Caravan for the night camped in Furze Down Road in the parish of Kingsombourne in the Tything of Brook.

And I am convinced that the original says Prisella!

The birthplace for everyone, except Thomas, is given as "Not Known".

It's called using the zoom function!! ;D

The village is now called King's Sombourne, and Furzedown Road runs south from the village.
