Annie O'Connor
« on: Monday 01 July 13 17:34 BST (UK) »
Hello,

My gt grandmother was called Annie O'Connor and she was born 12th June 1875 ish in Limerick. I am unsure of the year because although my mother told me Annies birthday, the year of birth is from the 1901 and 1911 census, in 1901 she was 25 and in 1911 she was 33.
The only other information I have is that she had a brother called Roddy (Roderick?) and sisters called Maggie and Bridget.

I am drawing a blank on any of this family, does anybody have any ideas as to how I could get any further with them please.

Who did Annie marry and when?

Her marriage cert should show her fathers name

Where was she living in 1901/1911

There is only one Roderick O'Connor in Limerick on the Irish 1901 - he was aged 16 and not with family

Hello,

She married Patrick Hogan in Athlone in 1897 and she was in Athlone in 1901 & 1911. She left Patrick in 1915 and came to Huddersfield in Yorkshire, England.

Hello,

No I don't have a marriage certificate, it's not easy obtaining one either if you are outside Eire which I am.

A research cert from the GRO costs just €4, once you provide the correct references.

see : Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon
Details included on a Marriage Cert

These are the references you need for that possible marriage :

  Name : Patrick Hogan
  Event Type : Marriage
  Quarter and Year : Jan-Mar 1897
  Registration District : Athlone
  Volume : 3 / Page : 5

An Anne O'Connor appears with the same details.

With a common surname like O'Connor you need all the clues you can get to find the correct Anne O'Connor..

possible Census returns for reference :

   Hogan household - 1901
   Hogan household - 1911

note Anne's place of birth is given as Co. Roscommon on the 1901 return
Remember to check the Resource boards :  Ireland, Dublin, Antrim & Cork (and stickies at the top of other county sub-forums)

Well it looks as if I need to find somebody with a spare €5 note because from past experience i doubt that the bureau de change will sell me one.

Thanks to everybody for your help.
