Thanks Ciffygee,
That list is about as far as I have got myself. As you say, there could be a lot to go through.
Good Luck with your own search.
John

Hello Ciffygee,
Some time has elapsed since we "corresponded" here.
How did your research go in the Dr Guthrie Ragged School records?
Regards,
John

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Glad you liked them. There's one rogue in there, I just noticed - the black and white one. I just searched for 'Dr Guthrie's' and that one sneaked in.

Hello Forfarian and others,

In my research for Margaret Richardson I have recently found her mentioned in Edinburgh PO Directories in 1860s and 1870s in List of Female Missionaries or List of Bible Women, with the support of the Ladies Association.

Would you know anything about this Ladies Association organisation or where records may be stored?

Thanks,
John

Probably too late, but I'm related to Margaret - she's my great great great uncle's daughter. We have photographs of her - and him - and there are quite detailed biographies here https://teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/2s24/sievwright-margaret-home and here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Sievwright Fanny Richardson was also a teacher, I believe in North Berwick - no idea if she had anything to do with Ragged Schools.

I live where Dr Guthrie’s School in Liberton used to be. There is a memorial across the road in the Kirk which lists children who have died in the school.
