He was living in the Abergynolwyn area before emigrating (see last line of a poem about his departure). The poem may also give some clues as to his standing in the community which he was leaving. and also the  English article http://welshnewspapers.llgc.org.uk/en/page/view/3156265/ART62/namorydd
http://welshnewspapers.llgc.org.uk/en/page/view/3043854/ART61/namorydd

His father's obituary : http://welshnewspapers.llgc.org.uk/en/page/view/3159956/ART56/namorydd
(I assume you will be able to read Welsh?)

It appears they had more than one child.
WALTER A  JONES Ref # 30142/1907
And
THOMAS S JONES RE # 21021/1910

Possibly more after the 100 year cut-off 1912.

Thanks for that. The digitized newspaper accounts are excellent & I can use that as reference. There is also an address so I can tie him down at that time in Oz. Many thanks all.

Oh, his father's Obituary is interesting, I hadn't seen that. He was indeed from the Aberglaslyn area but moved to Abergynolwyn before emigrating. Fantastic response from all, very many thanks.

Thomas was my Great Grandfather. Im happy to try an assist with information. My mother (Jones) would be over the move if you have information about his writing. I do know that he was awarded a medal ad carved wooden chair at the victoria theatre in Newcastle NSW Australia in about 1880 or 1890.
