Have I missed something??  Were these Catholic?

If you click on the link dathai provided the original will is available to view and the people listed are named within the will
The Reverends are described as "Roman Catholic Clergy"

Which of itself does not mean Paul DAVIS was Catholic just he made bequests to Catholics

Okay I wasn't able to see that designation. Many thanks, however, for the links and information!

I'd say dathai is referring to the bequests to "Roman Catholic Clergy"

Not to belabour the point, but when I go to that link I do not see the words "Roman Catholic Clergy" only a list of heirs. Am I missing something for future referrence?

Thanks so much Hallmark - I'd missed the name, and when I tried the name, missed the image links!

Much as I'd like to think I had finally found a link to my Wm Davis in Roscommon, I suppose with the strict separation of religions that it's more than unlikely that a Church of Ireland Schoolmaster and Catechist was related to this particular impressive family.

My Irish struggles go on!
