Peter

Thanks very much for that - I'd got most of that over the last 11 and a half years - but great to have a Price contact.  I'd not got beyond the date for Rebecca and William's marriage - obviously if she was honest about her age she would have had to have her parent's permission to marry.

I've got the following for their children:

Phebe (1832, Ruddington) M John Baker 8 May 1853, 4 sons D 12 Oct 1886
Sarah Ann (1833, Ruddington) 1 daughter 1857, then married Thomas Robert Pratt 28 Oct 1866 [Nothing beyond 1891 census]
James (1836, Ruddington) M Maria Phillips 2 Jul 1864 [Nothing beyond 1891 census]
Benjamin (1839, Ruddington) D 1840
Martha (1840 Worsborough) [Nothing beyond 1871 census]
Selina (1843, Nottingham) D 1873
John (1848, Nottingham) M Betsy Musson 17 May 1869 D 1929 Nottingham
Lavinia (1850, Nottingham) M Joseph Drayton 29 Oct 1871, 4 sons 2 daughters D 1926
Herbert (1852, Nottingham) M Sarah Ann Banks 2 Dec 1872 Miles Platting, Manchester, 5 sons 2 daughters D 1930
George (1853, Nottingham) [Nothing beyond 1861 census]

If you have any info to challenge my reading of events, I'd be most grateful.

If you want to carry the conversation on, you can send me a personal message on Rootschat - but I think you will have to have made 3 posts to do so (ie one more than you have already, so you would only need to reply to this post).  Keen to check out my Price info with you!

Trish

Thanks for that -I didn't have Martha Price!  Not sure how I missed her on the Notts FHS baptism disc  ::)   So thank you very much  :D

By "beyond" I meant I hadn't found the actual record (as opposed to a transcript) for their marriage.

I thought I had all  Rebecca's siblings - 4 brothers and five sisters at the previous count - but Martha fills a five year gap quite neatly.

Julian, good to hear from you.
Below I have pasted the information with added bits of information which you may already have.
I have recently been updating information of births and deaths with the enhanced GRO indexes for these. all births from 1837 on the indexes show mother's surname and one can also pick up children not noted elsewhere just by inserting parents' surnames in appropriate places (See Catherine and Charles 1845 & 46 below. I have not yet checked against baptism/burial registers which should help determine whether they are this family or not with certainty. Deaths indexes show age, but one pitfall is that only a number is given for age at death, so the number 10 could be years, months or days.

Phoebe (1832, Ruddington) M John Baker 8 May 1853 Nottingham, St. Mary’s Ch. , 4 sons D 12 Oct 1886 YES

Sarah Ann (1833, Ruddington) 1 daughter 1857 (? See Eliza Ann below (1857) on C.1861 / as youngest dau of Wm & Rebecca), then married Thomas Robert Pratt (?) 28 Oct 1866  Not found this marriage. Where did it take place? [Nothing beyond 1891 census]

James (1836, Ruddington) M Maria Phillips 2 Jul 1864 Sneinton, St. Stephen’s Ch. [Nothing beyond 1891 census]

Benjamin (1839 Q1 15/462 Basford RD, Ruddington) D 1840 Q1 15/384 Basford RD aged 10 months

Martha (1840 Q4 22/171 Ecclesfield RD Worsborough) [Nothing beyond 1871 census] There are a few possible marriages which could possibly be Martha, but nothing to provide definite proof without buying a number of certificates.

Selina (1843 Q3 15/572 Nottingham RD, Nottingham) D 1873 Q2 7b/141 Nottingham RD, aged 28

Catherine (1845 Q3 15/589 Nottingham RD. D 1845 Q3 15/372 Nottingham.  Aged 0

Charles (1846 Q2 15/652 Nottingham RD. D 1850 Q2 15/412 Nottingham RD. Aged 3

John (1848, Nottingham) M Betsy Musson 17 May 1869 D 1929 Nottingham   YES

Lavinia (1850, Nottingham) M Joseph Drayton 29 Oct 1871, 4 sons 2 daughters D 1926   YES

Herbert (1852, Nottingham) M Sarah Ann Banks 2 Dec 1872 Miles Platting, Manchester, 5 sons 2 daughters D 1930   YES

George (1853, Nottingham) [Nothing beyond 1861 census]   I have a note on my records that he may have emigrated (unfortunately I have been unable to corroborate this).

Eliza Ann 1857 Shown as daughter on C.1861 (Could this actually be dau. of Sarah Ann above. Cannot find birth record for her with mother as PRICE or WOODWARD in the enhanced GRO birth index, although there is a possible one with no mother’s name given.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Peter

Excellent stuff: thanks for the gap filling.

Selina and Eliza Ann:

Selina's Marriage to Thomas Robert Pratt- St Stephen Sneinton.
In 1871 Sarah Ann Pratt, lodger, and Eliza Pratt, daughter, were staying with brother James Woodward b 1836 and his wife Maria.
1891 census Eliza Pratt has married Henry Hutchinson and Sarah Ann is living with them at 19 Providence Street [Don't know what happened to Thomas Robert Pratt].
Eliza (as Eliza Ann Woodward; no father shown) and Henry Hutchinson married at Peas Hill Unitarian Church, 4 Jan 1885

Many hands make light work!
