The Grubbs of Hereford and Hay
« on: Sunday 28 July 13 08:35 BST (UK) »
Seeking the baptism entry of one Samuel Bailey Grubb, the son of Edward Grubb a Carpenter, whom I suspect was baptised in the area of Kingsland Hereford circa 1820.
Samuel later married at Pembroke Town on the 30 Apr 1850, declaring he was a Tailor of Hay. His new wife Catherine died within 2 years of mrge and is buried at Pembroke St Michael.
If possible would like the mrge entry for Edward if it can be confirmed.

I' m not having much luck here, there are 3 Edward Grubbs christening children in Kingsland about this time, but no Samuel, I am wondering if he was born Samuel Bailey as there are a few Bailey families in Hereford,  and his mum later married an Edward Grubb

I was rather hoping that Edward Grubb had married a (?) Bailey, but that was just to simple a solution.
Oh well, will call that another brick wall.

Tks for your efforts

marriage for Edward & Sarah Baylis

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N26Z-L3X

There are baptisms for some of their children in IGI batch C146064 for Kingsland, but not for Samuel.

there is a mention in Kingsland village website as the village in the past having a tailor who made uniforms for the nearby Lucton School, founded early 1700,s,

do you think William and charlotte, and possibly samuel were sarah's children, she would have been 50

added, what do you think of the fact that this batch are all christenings with no church given,

William is enumerated as grandson in 1851 and, although, Edward & Sarah did have a daughter Charlotte baptised in 1824, I think the one on the census is a grand daughter and this could be her baptism, allowing for all the ages being rounded down

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JW2Y-PRW

and her brother William

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NR8H-K4R

and their mother

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/J9WF-8VD

The batch is that for baptisms at the parish church in Kingsland. Looks ok I think.

there seems to be a marriage for Hannah in 1839, wonder if her husband had connections to Pembroke and the children joined them there later

I haven't seen anything yet that suggests that Samuel was a son of Hannah. He gave Edward as his fahter when he married.

Wonder if this is the baptism for the sister living with Samuel in Hay in 1861? Although both their ages are out by 10 years.   ::)
