Donald McIntosh, Dornoch
« on: Wednesday 31 July 13 04:09 BST (UK) »
Well I have hit a brick wall on my Mcintosh Line. I have found my GGGG grandfather Donald McIntosh
born 1766, Sutherland married to Rachel Murray and on the 1841 census as a Pensioner in Dornoch(I am assuming Army). I think I have exhausted all avenues that are free and open to the public.
Does anyone have any hints or suggestions.
Cheers,
Chris

I am also looking for a lost McIntosh. My relative was born to a McIntosh stationed with the 93 rd Highlanders. David McIntosh was born in south Africa where his father was stationed then ended up in Ontario, Canada. There might be a connection because many settlers to this part of Ontario (Zorra township) came from Dornoch. I am looking for enlistment records for the regiment, you might want to try the same.

Chris & Joan, a couple of sites worth a look, the Dornoch Heritage Society,

http://www.historylinksarchive.org.uk/

The Highland Family History Society, large archive in Inverness, join for a year, won't be much, see how it goes. With luck another member has already done the spadework on your folks. :)
