Page Doble, b. 1830, Somerset; d. 1870, Geelong, Victoria, Australia
« on: Wednesday 31 July 13 18:12 BST (UK) »
For those researching Page Doble, b. 8 Aug 1830, Buckland St. Mary, Somerset, son of William and Elizabeth (Betsey) Spark(es), who immigrated to the area of Geelong, Victoria, Australia . . . I stumbled upon his Australia burial information!

The information can be found through the Research tab of the Geelong (Victoria, Australia) Cemeteries Trust: http://www.gct.net.au/

He was buried 2 Apr 1870 at Drysdale Cemetery:
Location DRY-COE-1-807-149
Section Church Of England
Row 1
Grave 149

Note: Two of Page Doble's brothers, Adolphus and Northcote (spelled "Narket" in the 1841 census for Somerset) also immigrated to Australia. Their youngest brother, Mark C. Doble, remained in England. Mark C. Doble had a son born in 1870 who was named Page.

I have been trying to verify the 1870 Australia death of Page Doble since I found public member Ancestry.com family trees noting his death in 1870 and then indicating he was alive in 1900. I just didn't believe he was a vampire.  :D

Hi Jean, There are lots of photos of the Doble family at The Bellarine Historical Society, Drysdale, Victoria, Aust. They have a great 'research officer', see website for form. I had a look through them and couldn't see any indexed under Page Doble.
Photos are indexed as:
A. Doble, Gunner, Royal Victorian Volunteer Artillery
Al Doble, circa 1921 Drysdale Methodist Church Group
Albert Doble, pictured with children Eunice, Jack, Don, Ethel and wife Rachel

I hope this helps,

Treat online trees with caution...so many inexperienced researchers follow the 'hints' ::)

Bearing in mind that info on death certs is often inaccurate.

Thank you donnap, cando, and rosball for your information.

The Doble family lines, with origins in Somerset, England have had more than one male with the given name Page, with some in Australia (Victoria and Queensland) and some in England (Devon, Somerset, and Dorset.)

The given name Page (for a male) has been popular in one of my U.S. family lines with connections to the Dobles of Somerset.

Good research from all of you. Thank you, again.

As you probably know by now Mark Doble stayed in England and died in 1920 at Winsham, Somerset he is buried in the graveyard at Bettiscombe Church, Dorset near his sons Fred and Northcote.
