Jeremiah Green, Landowner in Kilbaha in the early 1900's
« on: Thursday 01 August 13 19:59 BST (UK) »
Am looking into the family history of some close friends.  Their mother comes from County Clare she was born in 1927 and is from a big family.  Her Mother and father had a farm in Doonaha think it was named Haugh Farm (that was the families name).  Her maternal grandparents were Jeremiah Green and wife Mary?  Her parents were Margaret Green and William Haugh.  The lady I am talking about has dementia so we are trying to find more out from her history to talk to her about it.  As far as they know Jeremiah Green must have been a landowner and think that he would buy strips of land off tenants who couldn't pay their rent etc.  Would love any history of the area's in County Clare from the 1920's to end of 1940's.  Have tried the usual sites but no look.  Also a family member had been researching but came up against a brick wall.

I am also after more information about my Great Great Great Grandmother Catherine Govers Irwin who came from Dublin in the mid 1800's.  She married an Edwin Baker and settled in Birmingham.

You can find headstone information on Jeremiah & Mary Greene from Kilbaha who are buried in Kilballyowen Graveyard, Cross, Co Clare.
The above information is available free on the internet from the Clare County Library under Genealogy.
Birth records from the Carrigaholt RC church show Jeremiah Greene was born in Kilbaha March 29 1871. Parents were Jeremiah Green & Margaret Fennell.
Regards,
Paddy

Haugh of Doonaha m. Margaret Greene

Could the Haugh who married Margaret Greene have been James rather than William?

There is no William Haugh in Doonaha East in 1901 or 1911, but there is a James.

There is no marriage of a William Haugh to a Margaret Greene in the newly re-released marriage indexes, but there is this one:

http://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details-civil/a022c86394114
Party 1 Name   JAMES HAUGH
Party 2 Name   MARGARET GREENE
Date of Event   12 September 1917
Group Registration ID   1771187
SR District/Reg Area   Kilrush

Doonaha East is in Kilrush SR District/Reg Area.

Clare Champion dates

The dates in the Clare Champion index quoted by whiteout7 above are dates of publication in the weekly newspaper, not precise dates of marriage or death.
