Diamond Marriage
« on: Monday 05 August 13 18:23 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Can anybody help find the marriage between:

Edmund Diamond & Mary Thompson.

I think that the marriage may have taken place in Northumberland between 1830 and 1841, as the pair appear together on that census.

Edmund was born in Wooler on the 16th September 1813, parents were peter Diamind and his wife, Jane Wild.

Thanks

Sue Roberts

Hi Sue,

Would this be Edmund on the 1841? -

Peter Diamond   60 Painter
Edmond Diamond   26 Painter
Richard Beadnell   15 Ap

High Street, Wooler, Northumberland.

If so there is no Mary Diamond listed and therefore a marriage after 1841 is more likely.

Looking at the 1851 for Edmund and Mary it would appear that their first child was born 1843 -

Rachel Bell Diamond
Christening Date - 15 Oct 1843, Wooler, Northumberland, England
Father's Name - Edmund Diamond
Mother's Name - Mary

So a marriage between 1841 - 1843 is more probable.

The 1841 image shows a Mary Thompson aged 20 living next door to the Diamond's

The only Edmond/Edmund Diamond on the 1841 is the one shown by Jen so where did you get the entry showing him & Mary as a family?

If he was only born 1813 a marriage as early as 1830 would be improbable

Somebody has notified a transcription error to the 1851 entry last month so may be researching the same family

Wooler isn't that far from the Scottish border.

So, in the absence of a marriage in England, an 'irregular' marriage at, say, Coldstream, might be worth investigating
