On checking the record below,, posted earlier, it say's Harriet Clements ? not Hannah Am I correct?  I have been searching for a marriage cert for Harriet ? to a  Clements but to no avail, so assume this could be a maiden name? Would one of the Clements children b cert have fathers name on it? Don't want to spend out if it doesn't prove anything
Although on the other hand I have found a marriage For a "Harriet Purvey" to a Daniel Clements in 1851, and as James is illegitimate maybe this could be the one ?
If you could help or advise with this I would appreciate it !

Sorry! My mistake - it was indeed Harriet! :-[

George or Mary's birth certificates would have their father's name.

And, that marriage is looking good!
Going by the births of the children, I would expect to find her marriage between 1848 (James' birth) and 1853 (George's birth).

Thank you all for your help and comments..
Very interesting as usual , more to the puzzle if her Fathers name was Appleton..!!!
Points to her perhaps marrying a "Purvey" before-hand but why list her son James as Illegitimate on 61 census..!!! Will have to check records for a Harriet Appleton marriage  .. ;D

There could be other reasons for Harriet Purvey having a father called Appleton! ;D

She could be illegitimate herself, and put her father down as William Appleton?
William could have died, and her mother re-married Mr Purvey?

Any idea what annuitant  means ???

They are beneficiaries of an Annuity - a kind of pension.
