Elsie May Bassham nee Grindell
« on: Friday 09 August 13 10:51 BST (UK) »
I would love to trace any of the descendants of Elsie May.  She died in 1978 aged 85, in Hull.  Her children were Eric (1914), John (1915), Bernard (1916), Donald (1920), Mollie (1924) and Brenda (1926).  In my research on the Hull Charterhouse I've come across a letter she wrote to her MP in 1976.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Hello,

She was my maternal grandmother. I am Mollies daughter. I didn't have an uncle John but one of grandmas sons was called Maurice, but perhaps he had  used his second name, I'm pretty sure John was my grandfathers name. One of her daughters is missing from the list, Marie. The only one still alive is my mother Mollie who celebrates her 90th birthday next June. Although we lived away from Hull I was a reasonably frequent visitor and remember the Charterhouse well where she spent her later years. I was born in Sharpe Street Hull where she and grandad spent most of their life before moving to the Charterhouse. She was much loved by me and most who met her. Quite amazing but she didn't suffer fool gladly. Is there anything you particularly want to know?

Pat

My dad was John Bassham, son of Eric.  Eric died shortly after my dad and his twin died. Their mum, Edna, then married Eric's brother Bernard.

My apologies, should have read 'just after my dad and his twin were born' my dad died in 2001, Edna died 2008. All dad's other siblings are still alive.
