Hi Heddwch,

I found on FreeReg, a marriage on 18 Nov 1823 in Spot (sic) Parish Church for an Andrew Anderson to a May or Mary Bathgate. Not much more info than that.

http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/SearchResults.pl?RecordType=Marriages&RecordID=481096
and from LDS,

Hello Heddwch,

There are Andersons and Bathgates buried at Saltoun and Pencaitland.
http://ndhm.org.uk/     site of Bolton and Saltoun Church

Looked at Spott burial records. There are a number of Andersons buried between 1712 and 1819, only two Bathgates, 1708 and 1795. Will type up if it would help. Aware we are looking at previous generations.

Hello Heddwch,

Whittinghame Parish Churchyard has a Gilbert Anderson, not your dates but may be a relative.

Gilbert Anderson died Mickle or Muckle Pinkerton 8/07/1850 aged 85 years, wife Jean Johnstone died Papple 5/08/1804 aged 36 years
On the same stone is
Thomas Anderson died North Berwick 1/12/1882 aged 80, wife Christian Robertson died Merryhatton 23/12/1859 aged 59 years. Mentions Thomas was land steward at Merryhatton for 37 years. Also daughter Jane died 16/07/1859 aged 27 and son Gilbert died Canada 8/11/1893. A grandson Thomas is mentioned, no date only infancy.

Spott

by Andrew Anderson
daughter Marrion died 18/09/1825, 1 year
daughter Marrion died Mickle or Muckle Pinkerton 18/09/1843, 6 years 6 months

This links to my previous post - Mickle or Muckle Pinkerton - although I am aware Anderson is a common surname.

Not sure this will be of much help to you but I have my 4xGt Grandmother Janet Bathgate marrying Richard Robertson at Tyningham in Nov 1786. Their daughter Margaret married Henry Cowe and the subsequent generations lived at various places in East Lothian including Spott. Not sure how common the Bathgate name was so maybe some relation. That's as far back as I have on that particular line.

Good afternoon,
I am possibly researching the same family line...
I have Gilbert Anderson who married Jean Johnstone in 1792.
They had William 1793, Jean/Jane 1795, Andrew 1797, Robert 1799, James 1801, and Thomas 1803, that I know of.
I am a descendant of their daughter Jean who married Andrew Allan.

My Andersons were from Cranshaws, Meikle, Pinkerton, Garvald areas of Haddington and my Allans
were from Samuelston, Saulton, Gladsmuir areas of Haddington.

If you wish to email me I can share more info.

Regards,
Eileen
