family bible

I have a family bible left to me by my mother all the info in it has proved to be correct with 2 exceptions. My question is this do I take the other info as correct or what, my grandfather William Briggs b. 1839 doesn't seem to exist outside this bible and his son William  b.1873 cannot be found anywhere. I have been trying for many years to sort this out with no success. If anybody could throw some light or information it would be most appreciated. I realise that what is written in a family bible does not have to be true but any ideas would be welcome.

Have you another contender for your grandfather, if not I would tend to accept the family bibles version with the proviso that it is unproven. You can then spend time trying to verify it or disprove it.
