Fanny Bitchener Born Cranfield No Trace After 1881
« on: Tuesday 20 August 13 17:29 BST (UK) »
We would appreciate help finding a record for Fanny Bitchener (name sometimes written ending in or.) She was born in 1863 at Cranfield on the Buckinghamshire border. We can find the record of her birth.

She is living with her married sister in the 1871census in the local area. When that sister Ann Welch (sometimes spelled Welsh) emigrates to New Zealand in 1875 on the "Lady Jocelyn" with her husband and children, plus her eldest brother Alfred Bitchener, Fanny stays behind. We next find her, aged 17 in 1881 as a servant with Georgina and Harriet Hesketh in Bedford (spelling incorrect as Heskeith.) Fanny's last name is spelled Bichener in that census.

We have searched for any record of a marriage or death or emigration but have been unsuccessful.  Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Checkout this 1901 family - RG13; Piece: 1361; Folio: 26; Page: 6 in North Crawley, Bucks.

They are not together in 1891 (the oldest lad is staying with a BURT (aka RUST) family in Cranfield) ....

cant see an obvious Marriage - in the next census the youngest kids names have changed, but 'Fanny' is still born Cranfield ....

Where do I find RG13. I've been using ancestry.com and doing searches but with no success. Do you mind giving me that link for 1901. Are you saying you also see something for 1891 too?

RG13 is the official nomenclature for the 1901 census.

If you are using Ancestry you can 'plug in' the components of the Census Refn

PIECE - 1361
FOLIO - 26
and PAGE - 6

This will bring up the Taylor Family in North Crawly, Bucks - with the Wife 'Fanny', born Cranfield.

1891, they are not together and the oldest lad Harry is in Cranfield with the family mentioned - could there be a link in earlier years to Fanny's family with this BURT or RUST family?

Thanks for trying. Oddly, Rusts are a family connection. Need to look at my notes.
