The Alloa glass work: an account of its development since 1750
« on: Tuesday 27 August 13 12:29 BST (UK) »
I've been trying to look for a copy of this out-of-date work, but I'm unable to find much online. I'm interested in Archibald Seton-Steuart (Stuart), there are references to him on pages 28-33 and 36-39. Has anyone a copy of this that they could perhaps let me know these references?
I know he was the owner of the Glass works and married Katherine Stein of Kilbagie, and I know about his sons, 4th and 5th Baronet, but I would really like to find out what this history has to say about him.
Also, does anyone know anything about Seton Lodge in Alloa that was next to the Glass works.
Many thanks in advance

Abe Books does have the book but it’s £30 (OUCH!)

Regarding Seton Lodge, Alloa – was it possibly named after the family home; Seton Lodge, Touch, St Ninian’s Stirling?  From the Stirling Directory 1865-6, Seton Lodge, Touch was occupied by Sir H Seton Steuart.  There are six more Wills on SP for this particular family, including Sir Henry James SS, Bart; (36 pages for 10 credits – what a bargain!) his mother, Dame Elizabeth and his sister Lilias Margaret.  Searching Stuart (soundex), forename Seton

From Canmore it seems that Seton Lodge, Stirling, originally served as the lodge to Touch House.
