If I remember correctly when searching for him, the Charles S was found deceased also in the Kensington area.

Are you getting him confused with his son?

We are getting nowhere fast here - what document do you have that shows his full names as Frank Clive Storey Thompson b 1881 or thereabouts?

Have you found any birth that matches those names?

Married in 1905 and his father attended the wedding. His name was Joseph Storey Thompson Chief Officer of the Grodus (?)

Unless you have a newspaper report of the wedding - the fact that his fathers name is on the marriage cert does not necessarily mean he was present at the ceremony.

There's a marriage bann for a Frank Storey Thompson and Mary Ann Williams for 1905.

His death on freebmd Frank C S Thompson 1944. His son Frank passed away in 1961. There's a sharing of names in this family several Franks, Lennoxs, Clives and Cyrils. I.E. my father in law is called Frank and my nephew has Lennox in his name!

Would it be possible to lie about your age on the wedding bann? I did find a Frank Thompson from the North of England with a Joseph as father plus connections to the shipping industry however his birthyear was around 5-10 years earlier. However my father-in-law has always believed that his background was firmly welsh.

So you don't have any actual documentary proof that he was Frank Clive Storey Thompson.  You are basing it on an assumption  ???

Do you have a copy of his death cert as that will show his full christian names

I strongly suspect he was illegitimate and made up a fathers name etc when he married to appear "respectable".  This was quite common practice with illegitimate children back in those days.

If you doubt the birth reference I found - you need to obtain a copy of his death cert to verify his christian names

Then buy a copy of the 1882 birth cert to see whether his father is shown as Joseph or whether he was illegitimate
