Margaret Brunton
« on: Monday 02 September 13 20:50 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I wonder if anyone could tell me if Thomas Brunton (a mason) & Janet Turnbull who lived at Lanton had a daughter called Margaret. ?,On family search I can only find a daughter Elizabeth 1750. sons James 1764 & William 1751.  My Margaret married Thomas Storry who was a blacksmith at Lanton. Their first daughter was called Janet, that's what makes me wonder if they were Margarets parents. Other people have her born 1751 at Kelso with parents as  William Brunton & Margaret Haliburton , which may be right.  She has her last son in 1801 which makes her  about 50. I can't even find out where her & Thomas are buried. It could be at Jedburgh Abbey as one of their sons is buried there, and there are some stones that are not legible now.

Thomas Brunton married Janet Turnbull in Ancrum on 11/02/1750

They had a daughter called Elizabeth born in Jedburgh on 22/12/1750

They had a son called William  born in Jedburgh on 14/12/1751

There was a Margaret born to William Brunton/Margaret  Haliburton in Kelso on 19/07/1751

Hello

Re Storry/Storie

I live in Lanton re the other post I put up.

We actually live in the house that a George and Dorothy Storie lived in along with their children, Thomas and William. In 1861 they were aged George 66  Dorothy  50  Thomas  30   William 21.

Is this helpful or confusing?

Hi,
Thank you for your e/mail, and information on Margaret Brunton.  I haven't been able to find any birth ,marriage or death of Margaret Brunton, nor where she is buried. Its like hitting my head off a brick-wall.  I have seen her name on some of her sons death cert.,so I do know she existed .

To J1200K
Thank you for letting me know which Storry lived in your house. George was a brother of my ancestor Thomas. I think they were all born somewhere around Lanton, as their father Thomas lived there as a blacksmith too. He died about 1823 at Lanton.  I would like to see a photo of the house,if you have one.
