missing married couple
« on: Friday 06 September 13 14:37 BST (UK) »
Hi i've got a walter and fanny perry married with no kids on the 1871c at St martin wiltshire which is salisbury i think. I should say that the census had them as Herry which might be a sign of the problem. I thought as they have fairly distinctive christian names they might be findable. I've pretty much checked everything off and there's no sign of them, and i've checked the wilts deaths. On that basis i'm guessing they may have emigrated or gone to the poorhouse where they may not be recorded by name. It could be really useful if they have emigrated, i have a cousin of his in NSW Aus and another in scotland. His censuses said he was an ag labourer.

walter perry bn jun 1842 @ charlton st peter wilts
fanny waters bn 1845 oct 1845 @ woodford wilts
married in salisbury may 1867.

appreciate any help thanks

When you say there's no sign of them, what exactly do you mean?

Is the 1871 the only census you've found them on?

Do you have that 1867 marriage cert and therefore know who their father's were?

Carol

ADDED- have just found their marriage in Salisbury on 14th May 1867.
His father was William Perry and hers Charles Waters.

no i have his family line back, he has a large number of siblings and i've gone back to try and eliminate the dead ends, i thought walter's would be fairly simple.  No i just want to find them to see if they bring me other leads on my perry tree.

So I think you mean that you can't find them anywhere after 1871,is that correct?

Looking at this 1881 entry, I would hazzard a guess that they had a couple of children , moved to Hampshire between the births of them, Walter then died, and then Fanny married a Frederick Skeates, who was a widower with several children!

1881
RG 11 1262 7 8
Appleshaw Hampshire
Frederick Skeates 44 ag lab bnAppleshaw
Fanny 36 bn Wiltshire Woodford
Frank Skeates 15 bn Appleshaw
Fanny Skeates 13 bn App.
Eliza Skeates 12 bn App.
Elizabeth Skeates 10 bn App
Ellen Skeates 8 bn App
Fanny Perry 8 duaghter-in-law bn salisbury Wilts
Charles Perry 6 son in law bn Appleshaw

(In law is often used for a step child)

Bet is was confusing with 3 people called Fanny in the house!
