BRADLEY & LEAL ~ Gypsies, tinkers, hawkers in Herefordshire
« on: Sunday 08 September 13 13:50 BST (UK) »
Hi

I need help with my Bradley and Leal families in Herefordshire.

I have William Bradley bapt @ Little Birch 1 Sept 1824 and his sister Elizabeth bapt 31 May 1818 at Aconbury.

I cannot find any other siblings.  Their parents are George BRADLEY who I believe married Sarah LEAL on 11 May 1818 at Bolstone.

I know from bapt records of William Bradley's children that he was a gypsey, tinker, hawker so it's likely his parents were gypsies too.

I am wondering if the gypsies found sympathetic vicars in Herefordshire when they were perhaps hop picking.

Is anyone else looking for Gypsies in Herefordshire or have any info on these families, or maybe have knowledge of the travelling community through different times of year?  What happened in Maytime? Anything to draw the gypsies?
