1881 census, missing marine.
« on: Monday 16 September 13 17:32 BST (UK) »
I hope someone has better eyes than me, or will please bring a fresh set to the party.
I am looking for my great great Uncle Charles Antcliffe on the 1881 census.
I have his attestation papers.( purchased from the N Archives) He was to serve in the Royal Marines at Chatham 1880, when aged 19. He was discharged -date not given- reason, "dead"
There is a likely death, Charles ANTLIFF aged 21 Dec 1882 Alverstoke 2b/331.
But where oh where was Charlie boy in 1881?
I know I am going to have to bite the bullet , as they say, and order this death certificate at some stage. ::)

where was he born ?

The couple I can see of that age in 1871 are Harefield Middx, and Fiskerton - both accounted for in 1881 ....

But in Nottingham 1861 I see another lad who I cant see in 1881 ...

Sorry, I should have said  ::) He was born 24th Sep 1860 at 22 Patriot St Nottingham. 1861 the family are listed as AUCLIFFE at this address. On the 1871 census he is with his mother Mary AUTTIFF she is Head of house, in Caunton, Charles is aged 10. I have not found his father William on this census.
The one from Fiskerton is also mine, another branch....
