James Muff and Gertrude Ibeson
« on: Tuesday 17 September 13 11:27 BST (UK) »
I have been using the usual record searches on Ancestry and FreeBMD and i'm coming up with nothing for census finds for either of these who married each other in 1922, Huddersfield. This is my last step before purchasing a marriage certificate and Gertrude's birth certificate. You would think with such unusual surnames it would be easy to find, but apparently not.

Gertrude Ibeson b.1892 In Huddersfield and passed away in 1977.

James Muff b.1890 and passed away in 1969. (No sign of birth on BMD records)

I have a Gertie Ibeson on the 1911 census as a boarder, but can not find her on the 1901 census with her parents...even after doing a first name only and birth/location search.

I can't find an entry at all for James and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction or help me out on this.

Many Thanks.

I've found James in 1911 - do you want that?

Im starting to feel slightly inadequate. Thankyou to both of you. Yes i would love to take a look if possible. My simple searches don't seem to be working for me it seems.

Don't feel inadequate - I used Find My Past which sometimes has records that Anc mistranscribes.   There is an option to ask for versions of a name.

I can't see the Muff's pre 1911

The transcription of the co-respondent's name ("Krocklehurst") in the divorce file extract looks likely to be incorrect, in the light of this subsequent marriage:

Lily MUFF or THACKRAY
James BROCKLEHURST

Caithness: MacGregor
