Hello and welcome  ;)

I noticed from another post of yours elsewhere, that John died in Dublin. You will have the family in 1901 census. John is born Tipperary and Elizabeth in Dublin.

Are you just looking for the mill in Portarlington as, presumably, John's marriage and death are known.
Do you have the children's birth details?  They may give you help re addresses at those times.

Regards

Heywood

if you look at the OSI viewer http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,653547,712449,7,8
and search for Portarlington (better to search for a street in Portarlington eg. French Church St. than use the historic maps than use historic layers and click on mills you will see the mills in Portarlington.
There is a flour mill showing just south of the main street, that is assuming the mill was in the town not the surrounding countryside.

Thank you well trying to go further back now yes John was born in Tipperary and ive seen the census results however one is wrong well they wrote it as Elizabeth was born in dublin but in fact she was born in  Athgarvan they were married there i think the mill in portarlington was across the road from where they lived i dont no who her parents are i have a copy of the marriage certificate but the fathers name is unreadable. i want to learn all i can about these people. Will look at the maps like you suggested and thank you for your help

I lost my old post, it was along time ago. i have a lot of their children and i have just found someone related that is trying to find the names of their other children. i just need to go back to their parents to improve what i have done on my family tree. I think Johns father was a farmer in Kildare Elizabeth's father was a land agent so anything i find out is a help

Where does the location Portarlington come from?

If John was born in Clonmel, Tipperary and ended up in Dublin city then Portarlington might be 'on the way' as it were but the children are listed as born in Newbridge not Portarlington. Celbridge, where oldest son John was born, is even closer to Dublin.

Moving around so much it's doubtful that John would have actually owned a mill but he certainly could have run it/them.

You can post the bit from the marriage certificate where you can't read her father's name (no the whole certificate) and someone might be able to decipher it.

Possibly John died in 1910? https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/KZ5N-GN6

John is shown as 45 yrs in 1901 giving a birth abt 1856.

There is a marriage:
Alexander Riddick and Eliza Curran in 1847, Kanturk.  :-\ I know it's not Tipperary but it's the only I can see at the moment.

Marcia- there are several online family trees for John & Eliza- is one of them yours? if not I can see an old photograph of them, details of their children, etc.

The family tree with photos is mine i think i do have photos ive had to guess at some of the names by where the photos were taken. Thank you so much for the info you have put i will start looking at that it does appear that they moved about a bit we thought that maybe he was a manager of a mill but on the 1911 census she is a widow and down as mill owner so its a bit confusing really. thank you so much for looking up and i will take a look at those names you put they are possibly the names that i are missing thank you
