Creamer Family, connections sought in Ballinamore:
« on: Wednesday 25 September 13 22:52 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Further to my research on the Fee family of Ballinamore, found a marriage of a Michael Creamer to Anne Fee in 24/Apr/1887 in Ballinamore RC CHurch. Found Michael & family on the 1901 Census, giving his age as 50 years, Anne 34 years, Michael deceased by 1911 Census. The couple had at least four children by 1911, Mary 1888, Laurence 1895, Maggie 1900 and Susan, 1907, have birth records for three of these and marriages in Scotland for three, one death record in Scotland. Anne & family moved to Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland where children married but I cannot find Anne's death there

I would love to find Michael's mother (father also Michael) and siblings but no births show on Ancestry for circa 1851 or Rootsireland site. Any help here appreciated, BMD's can be seen on my Ancestry public tree, dunmac96. There are several Michael Creamers on 1901 & 1911 Census in the Ballinamore area but cannot choose father as not enough information to connect dots. Address is Curraghnawall for the family at marriage and several more Creamer families listed at the same address on censuses. Children married into Ward, Knox & Ferry families in Paisley, all RC marriages.
Any help to find connections in Ballinamore would be of great help, son Laurence (Lawrence) travelled to Canada (Deported 1924) and New York 1930, don't know if he lived there after this.

                                                                 Kind regards,
                                                                           Duncan.

Civil registration of births started in 1864 and for earlier dates you need to see if church records exist. Have you checked that Ballinamore records are in the Rootsireland database? if they aren't then it may be that the records either don't survive or just aren't available online. If they are in the database then it's possible there are gaps in the records, your family lived elsewhere when the children were born, the names have been mis-transcribed or are illegible.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks Aghadowey,
Don't think there are any older files in the Rootsireland database, hoping family connection might add more to knowledge.
                                                           Regards,

There's an incoming passenger list for Lawrence Creamer from Dec. 1930 that indicates his country of intended future permanent residence was Scotland.

In case it helps, the 1928 passenger list to New York indicates that Lawrence was going to join his brother-in-law Francis Gallagher, 1056 Avenue C, Bayonne, New Jersey.

Hi Shellyesq,
Now found his mother Anne's death in Greenock, Scotland in 1942 which Lawrence signed, confirming he stayed home in Scotland. He married Mary Ward 27/Aug/1926, Paisley so last trip to New York must have been to scout out the work situation and maybe move his family there. Lawrence died in 27/Dec/1955 in Paisley, his daughter signed death document, forename only H. or M. Creamer.
                  Thanks for the help.
                            Regards,
                                 Duncan

Update:

Hi,
Now found out that Michael Creamer was the son of Michael Creamer & Susan Dolan born 1844 in Outeragh (Baptism RC) and that there were three other siblings baptised there, Catherine, 1846, Bridget, 1849, Francis (Baptism RC), 1857. Michael died in Curraghnawall, Leitrim, 29th September, 1909. Cannot find marriage of Michael Creamer & Susan Dolan in Rootsreland data base, there are other Michael Creamers in the same area one of which married a Maria or Mary Dolan in 1855, cousins????, no luck in connecting this Creamer family to others in the area. Any help appreciated, still plugging away. Ages seem to be changed to suit on documents.

                           Kind regards,
                                         Duncan.

P.S. Catherine Creamer married a Thomas Plunket from Co. Cavan, 12/Feb/1872 in Ballinamore RC Church, they had seven children all born in Co. Cavan.
Michael 1873
George 1875
Mary 1876
Susan 1878
Catherine 1881
Ellen 1885
Thomas 1887.

Also found one possible marriage for sister Bridget to a Patrick Flynn 14/Feb/1881 in Ballinagleragh RC Church, they had two children.
Mary 1882
Michael 1883.
This appears to be the only Bridget Creamer father named Michael to be found in marriage database, though no reference to family address in Curraghnawall.

Confirmed children to both sets of parents and Plunket marriage also confirmed to correct family.
