Selkirk, Incorporation of Taylors, any experts?
« on: Tuesday 08 October 13 19:37 BST (UK) »
Got an interesting one which will probably be solved by a trip up to Edinburgh, but...

28 April 1782 a petition to the Magistrates was made by the Incorporation of Taylors

"to have John Inglis prohibited from bringing the Bruntons in Yarrowsford to work in the town".

Probability there were 3 Bruntons involved.

Any ideas as to why the Incorporation of Taylors would take this action, and was it common for this sort of thing to occur.
