Margaret Glass/Robb-102yrs died Aberdeen 2012

 Hi Rootschatters,

Have just found Margaret Rae Glass who married John Robb in 1951 , died in 2012 aged 102 - death registered in Aberdeen City.
This lady belongs in my tree and I have had great difficulty tracing the Aberdeen members of that family ( Joseph Rae Glass + Janet Rae were her parents).
Having reached such an age, I wondered if their was mention of her in the local newspapers at the time. I don`t have the precise date of her death. As I live in Australia, it is difficult to track such things down. Would appreciate any help,

I could not find anything about Margaret in the papers .

This may be info on her parents.

Mother Janet born 1880.  Father Joseph  1871 -1941  born Hutchesontown Glasgow.
Parents of Joseph are Irish.
Samuel Glass 1836-1892   Margaret Rae 1835- 1906.

   Born  County Tyrone Ireland, died in Scotland.

 Thank you all for what you have found for me, I had those pieces of information. Margaret Glass/Robb`s parents were Joseph Rae Glass ( he was my Grandmother`s brother) and Janet ( Jenny) Rae born in  Kirkudbright .
    I have all the family of Samuel Glass and Margaret Rae. They were married in Clogherney Parish, Co Tyrone in 1855.
    It is the modern day family that I have lost track of and although I am so far away, I have been able to help a family member in Scotland who knew less than I.
    We were brought up in an era when " one did not presume to ask ."
    That makes family research more challenging. Thanks again, Thommoje

Maggie Robb, nee Glass, died at the Jesmond Care Home, Aberdeen, on 8th March 2012.

To see the funeral notice, which mentions relatives, search for "Aberdeen Press and Journal deaths". If you enter "Robb" and set the search over two years option, you come across 37 entries, including hers.

    Is there any possibility that this Glass family has any connections in New Zealand?   My daughter-in-law's father was the late Lew Glass who moved from Christchurch to Bribie Island in retirement.    One of his daughters now lives in Brisbane.

                                   As a result of all your wonderful willingness to help, I have found some more info re this family of Joseph Rae Glass + Janet ( Jenny) Rae in Aberdeen.
                                   Daughter ,Margaret Rae Glass/Robb , as we know, lived to 102yrs and died in 2012(8 March) in Aberdeen.
                                   I have just discovered that her sister , Sarah Gillespie Glass/King ALSO lived to 102yrs and died in 2010 ( April 24) in Aberdeen. Must have had special genes , those girls!
                                   Finding the announcement of Sarah`s death on the "Aberdeen Press and Journal Deaths "site has confirmed for me that I was indeed following the correct family line in my research. The big challenge is to make contact with any of those living folk mentioned in both of those death notices - they were ,after all , quite recent.
