Any Info On The 1st Gloucester Regiment Please!?
« on: Wednesday 16 October 13 21:52 BST (UK) »
My uncle, Thomas William George, was born in 1915 in Wiltshire.
He was a Sergeant in the 1st Gloucester Regiment which served in Rangoon, Burma and Kohima during WWII under the 14th Army.
This is everything I know about my uncle Tom and all I know of that Regiment's service. Can anyone point me in the direction of more information regarding my uncle/the Regiment?

WW2 Service records are not available online but you could think about applying for them. There is some info here:

And have you seen the regiment website/museum?

The 1st Glosters didn't fight at Kohima. I thought that they were part of the troops captured in 42. the 10th Bn were Chindits - I think

1 Gloucestershire Regiment has war diaries from the start of war to December 1945 so they weren't captured as a battalion and disbanded.
