Hi

Have you tried searching for a birth certificate?

There are only a couple of Francis J Connor's in the birth index 1912-1918.

Interestingly, there an entry in the death index

Francis J Connor, June 1962 at Watford

and also a Francis Joseph Connor, Dec 1975 at Tameside with a date of birth of 30 Sept 1913 but no obvious match in the England & Wales birth index.

It may be a long shot, but interestingly there is a Frank J Connor living just under 4 miles away from South Harrow in Harrow Weald according to the electoral rolls from 1946 to 1953, with a Mary McGovern.
 ???

Yes I saw that and wondered..........

The address is 798 Kenton Lane, almost opposite the house that I was born and brought up in !!!

:o Was it really??? Wow that's spooky isnt it, of all the places eh?
Any grandparents live there previously and know a Frank (Francis) Connor living on the road?  ;)

Hi Dawn!

Yes I've looked at both of these:
Name: Francis J Connor
Mother's Maiden Name: Connor
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1914
Registration District: Wigan
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 8c
Page: 60

and this one:

Francis J Connor
Mother's Maiden Name: Darracott
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1912
Registration District: Toxeth Park
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 8b
Page: 244

Both possibilities?

And as you mention, fummily enough 5 minutes after I spotted it the death index:

Name: Francis J Connor
Birth Date: abt 1914
Date of Registration: Jun 1962
Age at Death: 48
Registration District: Watford
Inferred County: Hertfordshire
Volume: 4b
Page: 281

Could also be him.

Thanks for your help Dawn!

Hello all,

After many moons a couple of children
and greying hair I have decided to start up my search again! I just want to say thanks again for everyone's help in the past and pointing me in the right direction.

Right, so I spoke to my dad last night to find out if he had any further info and he recalls some letters that he found as a child in a cupboard. They were from Manchester and they were all apologising for his dad's ( Frank Connor) behaviour, again suggesting that he upped and left and was with someone else. My dad 'thinks' they may have been from an Annie and Eric?
He also believes that Frank Connor died around late 50's maybe? His aunt Catherine (Kitty) sorted out a pension etc and was able to arrange for my dad's mum Mary to receive money as a result of his death?
These are all very hazy and distant memories for my dad, but might be something in it to work with?

The hunt continues........

Thanks again!  :)

P.s would I benefit from this being in the Lancashire forum? Thanks

I know that this death has been mentioned before, but with the chance to view him in the 1939 now you may be able to make your mind up if you think he's the right chap.

Hello again Carol, it's been a while! Many thank for the reply, I think that Frank died in the late 1950's, as mentioned my dad recalls receiving money as a result of his death when he was a child/young adult.

Many thanks, Nick.

What were the address and occupation of Frank on the 1941 marriage, and who were the witnesses?  As Carol has suggested, the 1939 Register (which contains full birthdates for cross-referencing to death records) gives a perfect opportunity to give fresh consideration to some of the possible Franks.
Ayr: Barnes, Wylie
Caithness: MacGregor
Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)
Hants: Stares (Wickham)
Lincs: Maw, Jackson (Epworth, Belton)
London: Pierce
Suffolk: Markham (Framlingham)
Surrey: Gosling (Richmond)
Wilts: Matthews, Tarrant (Calne, Preshute)
Worcs: Milward (Redditch)
Yorks: Beaumont, Crook, Moore, Styring (Huddersfield); Middleton (Church Fenton); Exley, Gelder (High Hoyland); Barnes, Birchinall (Sheffield); Kenyon, Wood (Cumberworth/Denby Dale)

Thanks avm228, having looked at some old info I collected I think Carol may have indeed found the right Frank Connor above.
On the marriage certificate his address is 345a Northolt Road. Profession is mechanical engineer. The witnesses are Michael and kitty shannon, Mary's (Frank's wife, my grandmother) brother and sister.

As mentioned above I had some info someone on WDYTYA kindly provided and there is a Francis Connor in Harrow with the Baldwin family in 1939.

1939- 87 Sherwood Road , Harrow U.D., Middlesex, England
Francis Connor, 30 Sep 1913, Male, Engineers Turner, Single, 263, 6
http://search.findmypast.com/record?id= ... 2F019%2F43

He appears to have died in 1975.
England and Wales Death Registration Index 1837-2007
Name: Francis Joseph Connor
Event Type: Death
Registration Quarter: Oct-Nov-Dec
Registration Year: 1975
Registration District: Tameside
County: Lancashire
Event Place: Tameside, Lancashire, England
Birth Date (available after June quarter 1969): 30 Sep 1913
Volume: 39
Page: 1820
Line Number: 108

As Carol mentioned above. Should I unlock the household? Will I get anymore info?
Do you think this is him? Looks pretty good to me? It's his name, South Harrow, correct year of birth and the Lancashire connection.....

Thanks again. Nick
