Burial of Lily Ronayne, please, and is it possible to find an inscription? I have tried many avenues and failed.

Thank you, Bea.

Do you have her death cert so you know where she lived when she died?

And remember, even if you find where she was buried, there might not be a headstone.

Have you tried contacting Lambeth Council's cemetery department directly?

http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/Services/CommunityLiving/DeathsFuneralsCremations/Cemeteries.htm

If she is buried in one of the 3 cemeteries they administer, they should be able to tell you as you seem to have her date of death

Thanks to all who responded.

Dear dawnsh - I have sent an email to Lambeth Council's Cemetery Department. Thanks for that.
I had hoped to find an online source, internet resources have been so helpful that I hoped to be able to look it up...

Dear carol18353 - I have the death cert. but neglected to post all the info. Lily Ronayne lived at 36 Woodfield Place, Paddington.

And lizdb...there may not be any information on the headstone, if there is one, it's a final shot at finding out who she was, perhaps the only brick in the wall that might be loose.

Thanks again, Bea.

Hi Bea

Very few burial resources are on-line.

Do you know why she was in Lambeth Infirmary which is south of the river Thames when Paddington is north.

I'm suggesting she might have been buried closer to home.

In which case there are several more options.

Do you know what her religion was?

If Catholic, then there's St Mary's Kensal Green

https://sites.google.com/site/stmaryskensalgreen/

There is also the Kensal Green cemetery but they often charge for look-ups

http://www.kensalgreencemetery.com/

The London Borough of Brent looks after Paddington Old Cemetery

http://www.brent.gov.uk/services-for-residents/births,-marriages-and-deaths/deaths/list-of-brent-cemeteries/paddington-old-cemetery/

and Willesden New Cemetery

http://www.brent.gov.uk/services-for-residents/births,-marriages-and-deaths/deaths/list-of-brent-cemeteries/willesden-new-cemetery/

Hope this helps

Dawn

Dear Dawn,

Lily's daughter lived in Golborne Gardens, Kensington... perhaps Lily was there at the time of her illness. Also, her estranged husband died in the Lambeth Workhouse several years after. Does this solve the geography issue and give me a better pointer?

I believe Lily would not have been a Roman Catholic, her daughter was a convert to that faith in order to marry. That daughter is buried in St Mary's Kensal Green.

I am always grateful for all my replies, and will chase up your leads. Bea.

I'm just tuning into this line.  My GG Grandmother was Hannah Ronan (Ronayne in some records) her father was Cornelius and mother Mary Donovan.  Hannah was born about 1835 in East London but her first brother, Jno, was born in Ardfield and Rathbarry Parish of Cork.  Hannah married John Driscoll in 1860 (Deptford, but marriage in Rotherhithe Church....don't know why), and had 4 children, including my Great Grandmother, Annie, who was the last one born on 17 March 1867.  Her mother died exactly a year later.  Annie was raised by her father's mother, Margaret.  Long/short of it....and why I tuned in.  Annie (who had 4 children illegitimately to William Hollingsworth) named her children Maggie (after the grandmother who raised her) and Hannah (mother) but also an Edward, and a Lily.  I have always wondered why......and saw this post and wonder if the families connect somehow?

You know what it is like with genealogy when things look odd and you go fishing.....?

Anyway, hello. :)
