Patrick Hart - Antrim

I have the Marriage record for my GGGrandFather - Married in Antrim 1834 to Sarah Clark. His Parents are not listed. How can I get his parents name and his Birth Date.

Hi,
   As your dates are well before the start of civil registration of marriages and births you will have to depend on church records. For these you need to know the couples' religions and a fairly accurate idea of where they were born.

They were Catholic and Patrick Hart came from Creevery

Marriage records for this period usually give minimal details (date, bride and groom) and rarely are parents/fathers or residence given.

Usually the next step is to try and locate baptismal registers for the family's church to see if you can at least get a baptismal date. However, many churches do not have records far enough back to find your Patrick and Sarah so it will not be an easy search (and not all of those records that do survive are online).

My family came from the same areas - main family is Palmer - some married in Randalstown RC and linked to the McGarry, McAteer Barr and Madden families in same area [e.g. Dunsilly] - was always very interested in a Palmer who married a Hart [Henry I think] in Randalstown RC in 1820-1830 - I have also seen other Palmers marrying into the Morton family - mine also were in Glasgow in 1900s - Partick etc.  Just to say I am looking in the same areas as you are and I am interested in the Hart family - do you have any indicators that any of my family may be interrelated to your own?  Sorry if I contacted you before..

Hi Fiona Ithink you did contact me in the past - sorry I never replied. The first record I have is for Patrick Hart and sarah Clark married 1834.. They had a Son Henry but he was not born until after 1834 - but there is every possibilty that Patrick had a Brother - maybe Henry - I do not know and it is very frustrating. It is strange also that my Great Uncle Patrick married a girl called Margaret Morton who was born in Paisley approx 1887. They married in New York approx 1911. All my Family who came from Ireland also moved to Partick. I would be interested to know what info you may have that could possible conect.
