When someone has an opportunity could they please check the Victorian Electoral Roll for a Eric Ernest Brown in Leeds Street, Footscray for the period 1920 to 1940 - any other Brown's living at same address would be welcome.  Thank you.

the listing I am seeing for your chap puts him as a munitions worker Number 1 Leeds St......    no one else in name of Brown at home but further down street at number 34 is a Jessie Harriet hd
for 1942 Maribyrnong (Footscray)

but strangely enuff there is another 1942 listing for Maribyrnong stating Eric Ernest E Brown at 132 Francis st , munition worker M....   (Yarraville)

so not only were there state and federal elections that year but he moved between them

I'm guessing you have already seen his digitised file on http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/  where it gives his address as 1 Leeds St and states that he is married ...  but just in case

Pleased to have helped.  I initially thought there may have been two Eric Ernest BROWN's on the Victorian electoral rolls, hence the further research to ensure we had the right man...and marriage.
