Family Search
« on: Saturday 02 November 13 12:00 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Is anyone else having problems with the Family History Search Engine (Mormons) When I am am going onto search it says "Loading" rather than "Search" at the bottom so will not bring up any results  :(

At the moment I am using freepages.genealogy batch numbers to access the site but I believe the surname is spelt incorrectly (SNAITH) so not bringing up any results. I tried putting in his first name of William and asked for 75 results per page but it finished just before the surname/similar surname came up and again you cannot alter the search terms i.e. birthdate etc. (1822-1826 Upleatham) :'(
Without William's baptism my search can't go any further.
Has anyone else got a problem or any suggestions please? Thanks.

Hi
Mine working incredibly slowly but then I'm on a Library computer and everything is slow.
William Snaith baptised 17.4.1825 Danby by Egton to Robert and Isabella Snaith is all it brings up.
Not sure of that area and if that is nearby?
Others in Cumberland ,Durham and Lincolnshire.
Other children for the couple
Mary Ann 16.7.1821 Whitby
John 19..3.1823 Whitby
Thomas 2.5.1827 Danby
Maria 18.6.1829 Danby
Marriage 18.5.1820 Whitby to Isabella Brunton.
If you get William's marriage it should confirm if it's the right one

This looks like their marriage so scrp the first bit.
William Snaith married a Mary Hardin Fletcher 9.1.1842 Guisboro
On Familysearch father William Snaith ,no entry for her.
Alas no baptism to a William Snaith either

Hi Cider Drinker

I have got the marriage in 1842 but it doesn't give father's name for either groom or bride  :(

I have just looked at the map for Upleatham to Guisborough and Danby is nearer to Guisborough than Upleatham so could still be a possibility. Snaith is rather an uncommon name.

Also just checked census returns for William and he says Upleatham twice & Guisborough once as to where born. Also maybe his mother is from Danby and he was actually bapt there.

Another thought is after checking census returns for 1841 is that there is a William & Ann in Guisborough b 1700's with daughters Jane & Judith, no William tho'. Maybe these are his parents and he moved to Guisborough as a child?

Think I'll try & find out more about Judith or Jane to see if there is any clues to link them with William.
Thanks for all your help cider drinker.
Regards Gaynor

Are you using Firefox with the NoScript addon?  If I forbid scripts from FamilySearch I also get the Loading button instead of Search.

Hi

Firefox is a browser which does the same job as Internet Explorer or Chrome or Opera.
(Google is a search engine.)

Silly of me, the browser Chrome was made by Google.  I never use it so only think of Google as a search engine.
