McCorry Lavey/Magherafelt
« on: Friday 08 November 13 13:32 GMT (UK) »
Hi There,

I am trying to piece together the McCorry tree and looking for anything at all no matter how small on the following people.

John McCorry married Rose Saunders. (We have no date on this, only her name from children's baptisms)
Had children:
James - 27-Mar-1859 c- Lavey
Patrick & Francis - 10 August 1864 c-Maghera

There are some McCorry's who were married that may be their children:
Margarita (Margaret) 1875 married William Carmichael
Mary 1870 - Thomas Downing
Sarah 1877 - Thomas Walls

I really appreciate any leads, or hints or absolutely anything on these.

Thanks,
Holly

What about a James McCorry who married Rose Saunders in Moneymore RC Church in December 1842?

Oh, that's interesting. He is listed as John on the children's baptisms and another possible childs marriage. But it's definitely something to look at. Thank you!

Have pm'ed you :)

RootsIreland has a record which is pay to view, but for an RC church marriage record from that time, it isn't going to tell you much more if anything (maybe witnesses).

Hi There,

Thanks for your message and the information on Sarah and her decedents. I haven't as yet found any more information or definitely connected her to my family. We descend from Joseph, who looks like he is the son of John and Rose. He and Mary Ann Given were married in the same church as Sarah and Thomas. They later moved to Durham. Hopefully together we may be able to find a connection and work out the McCorry family.

Cheers,
Holly

Hi Again,

I've been doing a few more searches on http://derry.rootsireland.ie/ in just the index trying to piece things together. From that I can find that Sarah's parents on her marriage certificate (the church one) are listed as James and Mary. As are Margaret's, so they definitely seem to be sisters. Mary's father is listed as James so she seems to fit in there as well. I'm not sure what extra information the certificate will have.

My Joseph has his father as John, but I haven't found a birth or much information on this, so I'm still not sure where he will connect in if he does. But there is just a handful of McCorry's in the area and they were married only years apart. Plus he has a Margaret McCorry as a witness on his marriage, so fingers crossed we work it out.

Cheers,
Holly
